I received this awesome looking blade as the Christmas in July present.

I’d never heard of it before so I figured lets do a review.

It sits nicely in a man sized hand, feels strong and sturdy. 1 piece construction and comes with the handle paracord wrapped. Described as .25″ thick, blade length 5.5″ and also sharpened on the end, which becomes important later lol.

So I went out to the yard and just chopped with it

No issues there, marketed as a hatchet you’d expect it to perform in that role. But what about slicing?

The design allows you to hold it and get full push on the cutting blade. Which looks you to easily slice and shave for feather sticks

One thing I always look for in a knife is the ability to strike a spark. This will do that

So now I had this processed material what next?

    FIRE!!!!

No shots of my striking the tinder because I was home alone, which also becomes relevant later lol.

I cheated a bit and sliced some birch bark off the tree in the back yard

    Then went to town

Transferred that to the chimera and we’re away

It’s a shame birch isn’t native to Australia it is truly awesome as tinder lights even when wet. But our paperbark is very similar so we aren’t losing out too much.

I love this. It’s not much bigger than a fixed blade but is easily workable as an axe or close work knife. It’s strong and arrived razor sharp.

Which brings me to the only downside. I mentioned that not only is the blade sharp, but the end is too

I forgot that which led to

    And from there to

Thank you mysterious gifter. This won’t be part of my edc but will be the first thing I grab for yard work, camping, or when I’m feeling like fire :D
