KeymasterYou’re stuck. You want the Streamlight Nano or the Pico?
Keep in mind, this is a comparison review.
In comparison, they’re ultimately the same light. Same price, they’re LED, they use four LR41’s, they’re the same size, even!
But there is a clear winner.
Let’s talk about the battery compartment:
The Pico is far superior in this as it has a compartment to hold it with a little diagram (not pictured) in the compartment to help you with putting in the batteries. (pictured below)
Whereas the Streamlight nano is just loose batteries. (pictured below)
So, next is spill on them. The pictures speak for themselves.
Pico
Nano
The coloring is the biggest thing with these.
Do you see what I see?
On the left, we see the Pico with it’s super white beam, whereas the Nano is the much more
yellow beam on the right. In the picture below, you can see why.
On the Nano on the left, you can see the deep yellow on the element, whereas on the Pico, it’s just massively lighter. (To me, I think they just cut corners on the LED with the Pico)
The throw on the Pico is not far at all. Whereas the Nano, I can shoot it across the house and it’s still got a ton of light.
Now, the weight.
The weight on the Pico is much less than on the Nano. Not by much, but it is noticeable in the hand. Keychain, not so much.
This leads me to how they look on a keychain.
They are literally the same size. The look is the kicker here. If you like a steampunky look, the Pico is your friend, but if you like the look of a standard flashlight, the Nano is your friend.
Now what has to come is how they feel in the hand.
Oh man, the Nano just feels sooooooooooooooooooooo much more refined. The twist is solid, smooth, the feel is amazing, it sits smoothly in the hand, it just feels so right.
The Pico feels like it could unscrew if it was on the keychain or in a pocket for a while. It doesn’t feel right whatsoever. I feel like I’m twisting a noodle* and after a few spins, it’s going to break.
So, final thoughts:
The Pico has some things like the militaristic look, while the Nano is more of a flashlight look.
The Nano is far superior in build quality, in light, in spinning action, in look, in feel, it’s just right. The yellow tint in it is more like an incandescent, which I seriously like.
Overall, GET THE NANO.
TL;DR Nano yes, Pico no.
*no noodles were harmed in the making of this review.
