One day I secretly ordered myself (yet another) Vic Alox, and when it arrived, I unwrapped it, showed my wife, and asked her how much she thought it cost. Her guess was about four times the actual cost, so when I revealed the true cost, she was mildly impressed and gave me an effortless shrug before promptly forgetting the entire affair. Hooray! Of course, this strategy depends on your partner’s ignorance of knives and MTs.
