I just got this really cool LTC200 Nomad from Three Rivers MFG. It is a modern slipjoint folder that instead of a classic back spring has cutouts in the titanium frame, thereby using it as spring. Being a two-hand opening, non-locking folder it is legal to carry (LTC) in many places with strict knife laws. I got the toxic green version which looked already kind of cool but switching to the carbon fiber scales made this an incredibly classy knife! I also heat anodized the pivot and stand-off screws to match them a bit better with the bronze color of the pocket clip and the smaller screws.
The knife is small (3.5 in closed, 5 5/8 in overall with a 2 3/8 in blade) but it still feels like a “big knife”, similar to the Spyderco Techno. Part of the reason maybe that the stonewashed CPM154 steel blade is much thicker than the usual traditional slipjoints. The spring is not super strong maybe similar to a Vic SAK. However, when you hold the knife and put your thumb where the frame meets the spine of the blade, you apply force on the spring and it becomes almost as solid as a locking knife!
Many people will still prefer a bigger knife and/or a locking knife but I think this is a very cool, great locking EDC knife that is extremly well made. It also comes in different G10 colors.
