    Our internet broadband modem had a USB jack on the back which could be used to charge devices, but that modem was replaced with a newer model which lacks a USB jack. Our SONY Bravia television has 2 USB jacks on the back panel. I can use them to charge a cell phone only when the TV is powered on. The jack goes dead when the TV is turned off.

    Used the “USB media port” of a car radio to (very slowly) charge my smartphone.

    2,5 Watt (500mA * 5 Volt) is “nothing” compared to the 30 Watt my wall charger provides, but it added some % to the battery and allowed me to come home with a phone still online.
