A couple of months back I was buying a few Ontario RAT 1 and 2, partly to give away to a friend of mine that lacked a proper folding blade. While looking around I also found this little gem:

It was sold on eBay as an Ontario RAT D2 with G10 scales which it obviously isn’t but given the price and the look of the knife I bought it, it was only about $18 with free shipping and I liked the look of it. I expected to use it as a demonstration piece for knife safety/different locks/designs. The thing is that the quality is a fair bit higher than the price suggests, the lockup is buttery smooth, there’s zero blade play, the fit and finish is not perfect but it’s quite near. There are no markings on it except “D2” in the second picture and all in all it gives the impression of being at least a $40 knife, it is certainly of a higher quality than my Ganzos and the Sanrenmus I’ve handled which are similar in price. The lockup is better than on my RAT 1 and it came razor sharp. The handle scales feels nice, it doesn’t look and feel quite like my other G10 knives but there’s something very tactile about it, almost like a fine wood grain.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of knife this is? Seen something similar?

If not I’m just gonna count myself lucky and enjoy it for what it is. :)
