A few years ago, I set out to create a ‘power kit’ and consulted this very forum. I ended up getting a few Chinese-imported universal charging cables, they were basically a short USB octopus which had seven or so charging ends for all the major phone types. At the time, it made sense and a few people with odder phones ended up borrowing it from me. Digging it out as I revamp a few kits, this thing looks absolutely archaic now. I EDC a three inch micro USB cable with a Lightning adapter in a pouch, and that should charge every single modern smart phone including mine since they standardizing charging ports. Looking at the giant iPod plug and the weird clamp ports on my octopus is truly a recent history lesson.

Is there any reason to keep this old cable which technically still charges micro USB and slightly older iPhones, or should I chuck it purely because of the bulk and reduced utility?
