uses for a compass on a keychain?

i keep a compass on my key-chain, i have no idea why i do, since i can use the sun, and at night….. well that’s my only possible need for one. i don’t use it at all, i’ve had it on for a week or two, and i’ve never even looked twice at it. so can someone tell what practical reasons that require me to need it? if i can’t find any then i probably will just take it off, but i don’t want to do it without any good reason.
