Wearing my 5.11 Field Ops watch with the Sureshot Ballistic calculator function. I shoot competitively in a wheelchair shooting league in the summer. The Ballistic calculator should help me with my Extreme long shots. Ive read alot of mixed reviews of the watch itself. So I guess time will tell if it was a good purchase. Ill keep you all updated here on the durability of the watch as I wear and use it.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk

KeymasterNormally I am found wearing a Rolex 50th anniversary edition (I love the green).
But today it is the old SMP, I have had this since I was younger and really love it, I won’t take it off for weeks now.

KeymasterThanks shmook,
Really nice isn’t it ? I was really surprised how this old leather can find there a “second” life.
And for a very reasonnable price.December 18, 2025 at 11:12 am #136724admin
KeymasterI’ve been dying to track down a DS-2! That is an absolutely stunning watch…congrats! Could you share how you managed to get one stateside? I have been incredibly frustrated with trying to find one to buy!
I live in the UK, plenty of places here that sell them, I guess they would also ship stateside but then you have import taxes to worry about. Shame they are not readily available there as it is a really nice watch for the money and keeps super accurate time even though its not the COSC version it does use the same thermo compensated movement.

On the Eco Drive watches if you let them fully die the storage battery loses all its ability to stay charged like it did before. It won’t be the same till its changed to a new one. Believe me I have tons of experience with Solar watches. Same goes for solar Gshocks. If you somehow let them completely die and recharge them they will never hold a charge like they did when they were new until you change the storage battery. That’s why I’ve gotten away from solar watches. To big of a pain to keep them all charged all the time. I have a huge collection of watches. I prefer a regular battery quartz or a mechanical automatic movement.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk

I never let it go fully flat so it was inoperable, it was on the last segment so still working. It’s since gone back up just sat here on my desk, it does take a looooong time to charge, especially in the UK with our 5 minutes of bright sunlight per 3 days :p
I will keep my eye on it, monitor and reassess.
I agree they are hassle, I have a fair few G-shocks and keeping them all topped up can be a pain, I have a rotation system for them that works but the eco-drive got left out on the side in the shade for too long.December 18, 2025 at 11:13 am #136729admin

I like my SKX009 but it won’t hold it’s “charge” more than 24 hours or so. If I don’t almost wear it daily I have to restart it. Still, a great watch.December 18, 2025 at 11:14 am #136730admin
