KeymasterAt least with the Japan market models, the SKX007 has a black bezel with a black dial. THe SKX009 has a dark blue bezel with a Pepsi (blue and red) bezel.
Anyway, today’s watch is another Seiko:
SNZH5[9] with Yobokies FFF Bezel insert? Looks awesome! I recently bought the same bezel and a FFF dial from Jason. Just need a watch to use them on now!Yours looks great – is that a Bradystrap?
Edited: My eyes may still be playing tricks on me – it looks like the case, bezel and hands are actually black. SNZH59?

KeymasterWoot, it’s here already :Juggle:
Only ten days after payment from Singapore to NL, a new record for me.
Feel free to laugh at my skinny 6″ wrist if you can find it behind the big :censored: watch 😀

I’m still waiting for the matching Nato/Zulu strap to come in. I hope that will slim it down a bit, but to be honest I’m not too bothered if it doesn’t. I’ve wanted one of these since I was a teenager, so I’m just gonna wear it with pride anyway.

You are good! its a 59 (all black) with the Yobokies lumed bezel insert and a brady strap. I bought the FFF dial from Jake B, but would you believe me if I told you that I havent found a competent watchmaker that would agree or could actually install it?!?!?!!?! Not sure if I’ll just buy the tools to try it myself, send it to Jake for installation or just sell the dial…. don’t know if I want to invest more money in the watch.December 15, 2025 at 7:12 am #130946admin

Wow. It IS hard to believe you can’t find a watchmaker to do it!I’ve actually been buying the parts a little at a time to start modding myself. The watch is my next purchase. It will probably be a little while before I can do it, but I will for sure start a thread and post pictures. I’ve seen a couple of other threads on other forums where people do their own dial swaps and it doesn’t look too bad. I figure a FFF is a good first mod, so that’s where I’m starting. A simple set of tools recently went on sale at Esslinger.com, so that was my most recent purchase. Most inexpensive tool kits are going to have crappy stuff, I figure at least Esslinger will stand behind them. The price has gone back up (still pretty inexpensive), but this is what I bought:
http://www.esslinger.com/watchtoolkit.aspx
Here is a thread I saw that makes it look fairly easy – he uses simple tools as well:
I’m sure you’d still have to find a decent watchmaker to test it for water resistance, but I’m not going to be diving with it anyway.
I’ve been going back and forth on a strap, how do like the Brady strap? Is it black with white stitching or steel stitching? I’m thinking of going with a deployant clasp as well – like this one: http://mywatchmaker.net/deployantclasp.htm
Post more pics if you get time and don’t mind!

KeymasterI’m a monogamist/creature of habit in many ways & do not plan on wearing anything else for a while, but no worries, I’m not going to post this watch every day for the next couple of months or so. I would like to post a do-over without the silly lip of the band sticking out as in my previous pic though

Thanks! That means a lot to me coming from someone with your collection, you have an awesome taste in watches imo.Is that a Core or a different model above this post? How often do you have to replace the batteries on it if I may ask?
(no worries, I’m not trying to start a long & tiring Protrek vs Suunto discussion here or anything, just curious!)

Thanks Boom! (Can I say Boom?)
Yes, it is a Core, but not for sale in this configuration. it is kind of custom. Suunto put the bezel of the Regular black Edition on what was a Light Black Edition. The difference are the buttons, mine are silver colored, and the regular black has black buttons.
I’d say a battery last 10 months or so. If you use the backlight and the alarms a lot, it will be even less. Reason is it monitors air pressure all the time, and that seems to use a bit more power then just any other run-off-the-mill quarts watch, which can go several years on one battery,
And then there are watches like your Protrek, which are light powered and will never need a battery, Clearly a winner feature IMHO.
Maybe one day I will even get a protrek myself! 🙂 Nice buy!December 15, 2025 at 7:14 am #130957admin
KeymasterRockin the Deep Blue today. Just doing its thing with the CRK Small Sebenza at work before I head to the pool with the girlfriend. The Deep Blue will be on the wrist all day and probably all weekend.

Yeah, Boom is just fine [IMG]Nice to catch a special one like that. Ten months is not too bad though, I expected it to last shorter. Do you use the GPS features often?
The solar power was one of the reasons I chose this Protrek, it’s my first solar powered watch but it makes so much sense. They do sometimes change the rechargeable battery in these I’ve learned though, so it is possible to wear them out.
I’m certain it’ll just be a mater of time before Suunto comes with a solar powered model too. With how energy-saving in watch-technology is progressing it seems inevitable to me anyway.Did you check out the new PRW-3000 range that’s about to be released btw? I think many Suunto fans will like the new look
The lack of alti-lock/MSLP on the Casio’s is a bit of a let down though, I didn’t know about that until I started researching them a few weeks ago. But I bought it more as a everyday watch than as a dedicated field tool, otherwise I probably would have gone for a Suunto too. The baro function and automatic-illumination are really cool though, and a back-up compass is always nice to have too.
