I have a decent hat that I wear everywhere (an Akubra cattleman), and for the first time in a number of years I will be taking a nice long vacation. This means I’ll be dipping into stores, shops, restaurants, etc. through Paris and Malta, and while I’d like to take my hat, I will need a lot of time ‘hands free’ but in venues that may not be gentlemanly to wear. I have a Hazard 4 Kato I take with me everywhere too, and I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions on securing the hat without damaging it?
I thought of–and rejected–clips as they could damage the brim, but I really am at a loss for other reliable ways to keep it close to the bag, short of elastic or something. I’m not the most handy of men, but I can put something rough together if need be. Although–as I’m traveling into some nice areas–I would just as soon have something that looks decent enough so I don’t look as if I don’t take care of myself (at my wife’s insistence).
