Working on getting my EDC truly decked out for once. In regards to multitools, I’ve settled for a micra on keychain and a Skeletool CX in my pocket. However, I do want one of the big guys in my backpack for when I need something with more oomph, or a lesser used tool. I want it to be one with a bit driver, pliers, all locking tools, and externally available blade(s). Oh, and Leatherman (is there any other?).
The ones that fit that (without being super specialized) are the Wave, the Surge, and the three different Charges (TTI, ALX, & AL). In the end tho…these all seem pretty much the same with only minor differences. Is there anything in particular that makes one of them better or worse than the others? What have been your experiences? Or is it all just personal preference at this point?
