General class here. W5xxx. Yaesu FT7900 in the truck. FT-60 in the work bag. Elecraft K2 on my home desk. Need to get my HF antenna back in the air.
Just got my first HT to listen in on the chatter as I study for the exam in early June. Anyone recommend any study books or online resources that proved useful?

Search for the current technician test pool questions and print them all out. Highlight the correct answer for each question. Then study each one over and over and over. Every other month, I am one of the VE for a ham cram saturday. From 9-1 you cram the correct answer. At 1, you take the test. Most pass the test. 95%+ passing rate.
I’m not a HAM I’m afraid, but in a similar area. I’ll be starting a course on wednesday to do my FRTOL over the next ten weeks or so. It runs through my finals which is not the best timing! Anyone got any tips to help study for the theory or oral, or for flying radio work in general?
I had an electronics teacher in HS 1978. I still remember his license WA4PYQ. I knew he wrote books but looking him up he was all over the place. He changed his license to W8JHD. Mr. Grove you were a great teacher and I still remember you wherever you are.

Just passed my technician, now I am going to start studying for general. Been listening on a kenwood HT and was very impressed with the range it has.
I started with a Baofeng, got my Tech, primarily because I needed a method of emergency communications. There are several stretches of my daily commute without any cell phone service or consistent traffic. Within 3 months, I had a Yaesu Ft-8800R in the car (couldn’t reliably hit the local repeaters with 5W and a mag-mount antenna). Now I’m looking at digital modes on HF…
