Just got my LTC in Massachusetts!

I went to a newly opened shop in town and found a 500 round box of .22lr. First I’ve seen in years and I suspect they had it, only because of the grand opening. Is it worth it to buy a .22 rifle? Anyone see .22lr returning to the shelves?

I don’t know the situation about ammo, but shooting a 22lr rifle is pretty fun :p

What is your intended use? Do you do any small animal hunting? For me, every gun owner should have a 22lr model, whether pistol or rifle. I have a Ruger carbine and also the M&P 22. The ammo will probably always be hit and miss now – it’s just no longer the sure thing it used to be before the goings on of this administration, imho.

If you don’t have any and think you might want some for whatever reason,of course.
Was it reasonable or crazy priced is the next question.

As badly as I wanted/needed some I refused to pay the price if inflated.

Luckily I found a place and built up a stockpile and should be set for a long while but yeah 22 is just fun.

I have a Ruger SR22 and it is a blast and really a great shooter too.

And the Ammo is like a form of currency still.

22’s are slowly returning to the shelves…
I feel every gun owner should have at least one 22.

Just bought two Ruger 10/22s last week! Fun to shoot with the kids and teach them how to use the sights. Bought a couple of bricks of 500 for $28-$30.

Pretty cheap price on those bricks usually go for twice that around here for the good stuff anyway.

Acadamy Sports has it pretty regular here in middle Tennessee. If you got the ammo you might as well get something to shoot it with!

Col. Cooper believed that the .22lr round would wind up being the post collapse currency…
One can also view .22 munitions as money in the bank—if so inclined….

I’m all for the .22lr, I got an Ruger SR22 pistol and a Savage MKII FVSR rifle, both awesome guns!

They are fun, and reasonably inexpensive to shoot. I’d say if there’s a good deal to be had then grab one.

Yes, buy one … Or more. I have and shoot a Ruger Standard Mark I that I bought new back in 1964 for $30 or so: I still enjoy shooting it and have taught my sons and now my grandsons to shoot with it. I also have an Armscor M1600 — a .22 cal rifle that looks like an M-16 A2, a Ruger Target Mark I with a bull barrel and target sights, an original Ruger Bearcat, and so on.

My point: all of these still get range time and still bring me much enjoyment. The ammo ‘issue’ is starting to go away and in my area .22 ammo is beginning to be back on the shelves.
