KeymasterLooking for a reliable/durable charger. One important feature would be the ability to charge via dc 12v/lighter, and a/c standard… or via USB. One reason would be so I can recharge through a nomad 7 solar panel as well as in the car, on the go. Most important is AAA/AA charging, but I have one flashlight that uses 4x cr123a or 2x 18650 batteries.
I’d appreciate some input/suggestions. I’ve been burned by rechargeable batteries. I last bought duracell “quick charge” and found they didn’t keep the charge after a couple dozen cycles.
Thanks,

KeymasterWelcome to EDCF, Freeballer, and I guess BLF too, lol. While I run cr123a primaries instead of the 18650s for a variety of reasons and therefore can’t speak with authority to that side of your question, for AA and AAA the answer is simple and easy- Eneloop. Just buy the kit with the charger and be done with it. BTW, it looks like Bergtjie gave you some good options too.

KeymasterHey Geo,
Check out the intellicharger i4. Can be had for around $20 and will take all the cells you mentioned. Will also charge via 12v DC, but you’ll need to purchase an additional cord.
Good luck,
ES

KeymasterCorrect i4 wont run off of USB but if the mobile power source is the Nomad 7 then the 12v option is still available.

KeymasterI have a couple lighter socket (12v) adapters. Might get lucky and one will fit.
Yes. More than likely I’ll use the nomad 7 or directly out the lighter socket if I’m away from home..No stores carry eneloop, but I can get off ebay.. From what I gather the i4 will handle lithium and ni-mh?
