KeymasterI have a couple of female friends that are getting into the wonderful world of handguns and EDC/CCW. Looking around, carry options for women, particularly professionals who have to dress as such, are limited.
Any advice from the assembled as to carry system that work? I appreciate your time.

KeymasterI don’t have a lot of personal knowledge in this area, but my wife shoots and really likes the “Well Armed Woman” website and blog. Perhaps that would give you and them some ideas.

KeymasterMy aunt works in a professional setting and have been carrying a Keltec P32 with the pocket clip for 15 years. She clips it on the waistband of her skirt or pants in an IWB style of carry. She has had zero issues with it.. I made her a Kydex Trigger guard similar (but trimmed down some) to the one in the second picture a few years ago as she was concerned about the trigger being exposed..

KeymasterCheck out the Cornered Cat website. There’s a lot of great information there.

KeymasterI would second the recommendation regarding the Cornered Cat website and add a recommendation for reading Ms. Jackson’s book by the same name (my wife found the book very helpful).
As far as carry options, my wife has several CCW purses in her rotation — a couple from Galco, but most are from Gun Tote’n Mamas (which she prefers due to price). She carries a Taurus Model 85 Ultra-Lite Titanium .38 Spl with Crimson Trace lasergrip.

KeymasterA 3rd for Cornered Cat. Gila Hayes from Seattle Firearms is a fantastic resource as well. Julie Golob (one of the best ambassadors we shooters could ever ask for and a hell of a shot) has a fantastic series of blog posts about CCW and the modern woman.

KeymasterFl Woods Bum… unload and put a dab of epoxy on the back side of the trigger of your Aunt’s KelTec, to lock the trigger axis pin in place…push up to make sure it has not slipped

KeymasterI carry a M&P Shield in a PJ holster. Highly recommended. Took me a couple guns and a few holsters before I found the winning combination for me. Faliaphotography user’s youtube videos helped me out tremendously, so I would recommend watching those videos to other females. She has a couple different guns and holsters and she shows how she incorporates them in a variety of outfits. That’s what led me down the Shield + PJ holster path after failed tries with other options.

I put a Northwood Components Trigger in hers awhile ago and she loves it over the factory trigger.. it uses a set screw to resolve this issue..

I was going to put on a dress and try out a few different holster options, but Brtsmpsn seemed WAY too eager to video it and that shied me away from doing it. :rofl:December 23, 2025 at 11:52 am #140662admin

KeymasterConcealed carry can actually be a simpler issue for women, as there are many blouses and jackets that are acceptable business or professional dress that are worn untucked and cover the waist. There is also the option of carrying in a purse.
This woman makes a good case for Remora, but I’ve found that if a pistol is sub-compact, it is short and light enough, in my non-feminine waist, to work loose. The good thing about Remora, though, is there is no clip to reveal the presence of an IWB holster.December 23, 2025 at 11:53 am #140664admin

Oh stop it, you know that you were silently rooting for me to throw on a dress.. LOLDecember 23, 2025 at 11:53 am #140665admin
KeymasterI like the suggestions and second that small wardrobe changes might be all that’s necessary.
In all honesty, guys and girls aren’t THAT different in this regard. Girls’ waists tend to be slimmer (given the same level of general health) but clothes tend to be tighter, which seems like a wash.
Aiwb seems especially suited to relatively fit women more than similarly fit guys, since a woman’s breasts can blouse the shirt out farther than a guy’s pecs.
I believe Sarah Tipton also has some articles about carry for women on TTAG, in addition to the great suggestions so far.
I’d warn against purse carry for the same reason I don’t like bag carry…it’s slow. As part of a bigger system, it can work for, say, a full size gun or PDW in a bag with a smaller gun on body…but few people will ever actually do that, and you have to keep control over your bag ALL THE TIME, which almost no one does.
My wife is pretty small but not insanely skinny, and we got curious one day. She can carry my M&P full size more covertly than I can as long as she wears the one shirt she has that isn’t a “babydoll” cut. She wouldn’t, because it’s like 5 pounds, but she could.
The skinniest girl I’ve known IRL was like 5’9″ and 105lbs after a big meal, and she could conceal a G19 with the same wardrobe change.

That Youtuber is faliaphotography that I mentioned. She has an even better video out there with a ton of different holsters, positions, and two different guns to show what is all possible. I tried the Remora as well for my XDs I had originally, but that didn’t suit me. I just never felt 100% certain it was secure. It was probably just mental, but I want the peace of mind that my gun is secured without worrying that it might not be.
