KeymasterSo since my edc bag got stolen out.of my truck last Friday I guess its time for a new one again?… right now I’m thinking of either getting another 5.11 covrt 18 this time green and black or back to what I had before that an ogio metro both have served me well in the past, but I’m open for suggestions. It has to hold a laptop and would be nice to have internal organization for the cords and such and not look tactical. Was using the rush 24 before the covrt and had some issues at certain job sites it makes life easier. Thanks for the help in advance and I look forward to seeing your suggestions.

KeymasterBoth good choices. Neither are even on my long list of guns though. To answer your questions, 1: barrel length will effect velocity not accuracy and it will be a minimal difference with the 2 guns compared, nothing to lose sleep over. The two guns are almost exactly the same width so they will carry similar, though the grip on the G19 is a little longer lending to easier printing.
My vote for something in the G19 arena would be a Sig Sauer P320c
When you go down it gets a little more difficult to choose.
Sig Sauer P320sc, M&P9c, H&K P30SK LEM, FNS-9c, would be my top 4 to look at.November 27, 2025 at 10:43 am #112997admin
KeymasterThe XD will be heavier despite being the smaller gun. Where you decide to carry it IWB, like appendix, may be a nuisance for you or it may not regarding weight. Improving the Glock trigger will be a $15-25 investment in a factory “-” connector. Improving the trigger in the XD with a PRP drop in will be $125 investment. The versatility in magazines is another in case you want to build off either platform.
All this is on paper of course. But until YOU go actually shoot both for a good 100 rounds (more if you’re new to shooting IMHO) at least, you won’t be sure if they are both a good fit for you or one has a clear advantage over the other…for YOU. Find a place to rent or a friend and give them a try before committing is always my personal recommendation for carry pieces. Safe queens and range toys, buy until your hearts content.

I think I need to go back and check out the p320, I completely overlooked that one. From what I’ve seen in my brief research, theyseem to be excellent guns.November 27, 2025 at 10:44 am #113001admin

I one both the compact and sub-compact and both are extremely good shooters and very comfortable, definitely worth the look. I overall like the compact slightly better but very slightly. It’s my go 2 handgun.November 27, 2025 at 10:44 am #113004admin

KeymasterI had an XD Mod 2 and carried it for a while. It was a great gun and felt good in the hand. I shot my buddies G19 one day and knew I had to get one. Ever since getting it I have not carried the XD any longer. The mod 2 felt more too heavy and I didn’t like the tall bore axis compared with the glock. I carry the glock appendix along with a G17 mag and have no issues with printing or being uncomfortable. If it’s your first gun don’t go and start changing everything on it thinking it’ll make you shoot better. Practice is what makes you shoot better. A lighter trigger may be easier to shoot but doesn’t make you more accurate. If you can master a stock gun then you can shoot anything. My $.02.

KeymasterOf those two choices go with the Glock 19. Spare parts are plentiful and you can either run it just fine stock or customize it to your heart’s content. The XDs are nice pistols, but it can be a real headache getting parts if something breaks. Minor differences in barrel length generally don’t much much of a difference in practical accuracy. IWB carry security and comfort are more determined by a good belt and a good holster (that fit each other, your gun and you all well) than one particular gun vs the other.
A buddy of mine picked up a SIG 320 compact .40 cal and he loves it. We both shoot it better than the Glock 23 that he used to own. The 320 trigger is really nice right out of the box, but it does set up a little higher in the hand (may or may not be an issue for you). The 320 compact grip feels better in my hand than an unmodified Glock (I normally remove the finger grooves and add stippling to them).

KeymasterAs far as comfort I have owned both, the Mod 2 is marginally more comfortable inside the waistband. As far as accuracy, I don’t know that you will notice the difference at defensive ranges, 20+ you might be able to measure it but not considerably.
By the way, both are fantastic guns with great reputations. Nothing wrong with the 320 either but you are on the right track. You could close your eyes and pick one of the ones you mentioned and be thrilled and well set.
BTW, this won’t be your last handgun. 😀

KeymasterOf those choices, you should hands down get the Glock. Leave it factory except for the sights and it will be just fine.

KeymasterSorry I’m late back to the party. I was in Bermuda for a while. As for the light primer strike issues I have had zero. I have had nothing but flawless performance from my P320c or P320sc.

The distance between front and rear sights may affect practical accuracy (longer sight radius allows for more precise aiming), though I wouldn’t worry about that, either.November 27, 2025 at 10:46 am #113025admin
KeymasterI personally would never buy an XD pistol. I could list the reasons for a long time. Silly grip safety, poor trigger, poor finish, used to sell for 250 brand new until Springfield changed the name from HS2000 to XD and suckered the market… But I’ll use a different, and less biased, reason to recommend the Glock 19 or something else rather than any of those reasons. It’s your first carry gun. I wouldn’t start with anything subcompact. Look at the Glock 19, P320 Compact, and other similarly sized guns. They’ll be fairly small compared to a full size but much easier to get proficient with than a subcompact.
As for the likely backlash on my negative comments, I don’t mean to be rude or invalidate anyone’s purchases. I just think there’s a political correctness problem in the shooting community where negativity toward any given firearm other than a Hi-Point is looked down on. I wouldn’t trust an XD, though, and I don’t think they’re worth it. So I would rather share that and appear rude, although it’s not my reason for sharing my opinion, than pat people on the back for every purchase if I think they can do better. Personally, I think just about any other striker fired gun on the market would be a better choice. Just my opinion

KeymasterThat’s not how the market works. An XD is worth what people will pay for it. The HS2000 was worth what people paid for it. Brand names are apparently not worthless.

I get the concept, but in the end we are still talking about the same gun and to me it is still only worth 250 regardless of the name. -
