Thanks for all of the great responses but none of them will work due to the way the barrel has a spreader tube on it, the front grip is a pistol grip, it is a .410 and so on. I tried to put a link to the mossberg site to show it but it is blocked by this site and I don’t know how to post a pic of my own, so I am stuck until I can come back to you with better information and not waste your time. Thanks again for all your help, Ed. Mossberg model 500 .410 bore pump shotgun with pistol grip forearm with an 18.5″ barrel it is the home security bantam 50359.
On another forum, I remember seeing this same question posted a long time ago for the same gun. This mount worked for the person that asked. One of the forum members even gave him the mount to experiment with.I’m not sure if “spreader tube” means the choke tube for your shotgun:
Get the UTG 2 slot single rail (UTG MNT BR002S). The rail is about 1.2 ” long. They cost about $6.
Pick the light that you want to use. If it has a Picatinny mount, great! if not;
Get a Weaver or Picatinny scope mount that will fit your light. Many lights can be bought in the 25mm tube size. The cheapest rings will work. Just make sure that they fit the base. UTG makes rings that cost about $9 per pair. You only need one.
Remove the barrel and loosely clamp the rail onto either the barrel or the magazine tube. It may be a tight fit but I have heard that you can squeeze the top in without removing the barrel.
Put the barrel back on and test the fit with your light mounted.
Tighten it down and use a drop of blue Loctite on the screws (my advice – it’s not a requirement).December 20, 2025 at 10:54 am #138104admin

Thanks for that and also for getting pics of the shotgun up, that was a huge help, Ed.December 20, 2025 at 10:55 am #138105admin
KeymasterYou’re welcome. I hope that you try the mount on you shotgun. In the meantime, I will try to find that thread.
Also, take a look at the Tactical QQ06 Bracket Barrel Mount. I happened to see it while I was looking.

KeymasterThe guys over at GG&G have some nice mounts. I have bought a couple of their products in the past and they are high quality.

Thanks I sent GG&G an email with pic of the shotgun asking if they have something. I mean even if I can get a rail on it some way I can get a flashlight to work on that. Thanks again, Ed.December 20, 2025 at 10:57 am #138109admin

I have a 500 in 12 ga and my dad has a 500 in 20 ga and I don’t remember the physical size (other then the obvious i.e. the barrel/chamber) being drastically smaller. Although, its been a while since I had them side-by-side.
It might be worth the $30 to try… you could always return it or sell it on ebay.
