I use an Android app called HanDBase. With this database application you can make your own little ‘apps’. I made one specifically for recording mileage two years ago and I use it all the time. My ‘Mileage Tracker’ app, is linked to other ‘apps’ I made where I store my job numbers and track which what mileage I’ve already submitted for reimbursement, etc.

This is so much better than trying to use a spreadsheet or notepad. Besides being able to link to other databases which store which job to bill the mileage to and being able to quickly know which mileage you have not yet submitted for reimbursement, the app can automatically insert the date and time for you, etc.

I highly recommend it, but there is a little bit of a learning curve. I was already an avid user of Microsoft Access, which both helped and hurt me with this application. It helped in the sense that I understood how databases work and it hurt for the same reason. While HanDBase is somewhat of a database program it is quite different from Access and I find those limitations frustrating, but for Android there is really no other game in town.

I tried posting some links to the app on Google Play and the authors website, but I kept getting an error message that those domains are not approved. You can find the app easy enough on Google Play by searching for ‘HanDBase’ and the author’s website is DDHsoftware dot com.

Here is a screenshot of my Mileage Tracker. This is just the top half of the form, but you’ll get the idea.

I’ve been using an android app called “fuelio” for a couple years now to track gas mileage and fuel expense. The free version has been more than sufficient for me. Worth taking a look if you don’t want the learning curve of making forms or a database.

Use MyTracks and export the data to Google Drive. I have to track mileage for work and this is the most hands-off way I could find. Terrible for a short trip to the donut shop but if you have to put on 200 miles in a day it’s great.
