Like many others I came here from CDF, had a good look around the forums then settled down a bit. I became intrigued a bit with the small whistles having tried and failed as a kid to make a bamboo one. Let’s try again I thought, so off to the garage found some 9.5mm alloy tube, some 6mm alloy bar and let’s experiment. I couldn’t be bothered with setting up my lathe for milling so all I did on the lathe was to bore the tubes to 6mm and face them, everything else is done by hand.
First one was rough just to see if it would whistle – what a piercing noise, well happy. So I made a couple more. Brass next! Overall body length is about 2 inches, 50mm. Sharper and louder than the classic British copper’s whistle it’s shown with.
I welcome your comments especially the criticisms.
