Received my pre-ordered Spyderco Clipitool today – I ordered the model with blade+scissors (they are also available with blade+serrated blade, and blade+bottle opener/screwdriver/)

First impressions are a nice little tool. The blade is a slipjoint, the FFG blade holds open solidly, and it feels comfortable (albeit small) in the hand. One-handed thumb opening with the Spydie-hole is near impossible due to size, but it does give a nice surface to open it up with thumb and forefinger. It is smooth opening, and the mechanism feels solid. The scissors have a “mini spydie-hole” that makes them easy to retract as well. The scissors are great – I like the way they stay closed until at the end of the opening motion – with a satisfactory “click”. The spring/hinge mechanism is very smooth and looks to rival my favorite multitool scissors – those in my Leatherman Juice.

Both tools have a slight amount of side-to-side flexing in the pivot, which is adjustable, but as I said, the slipjoint holds them open rather well, they feel more secure open than say, an SAK.

Here is a size reference (pictured with a Spyderco Sage and a Benchmade mini Grip) it’s small!! :

With blade extended…not sure what the “068” means….excellent blade shape, very usable for light EDC tasks (I opened a couple of boxes with it today) very sharp out of the box, and decent 8cr13MoV steel.

    and finally the scissors:

There is no reason to open both tools at the same time!!

It is a nice little tool, fits well in my “third pocket” in my jeans with its very solid, and feeling overengineered (in a good way) clip. Nice, unobtrusive useful tool at 1.9oz it is pretty light, but also feels solid – due to the all-steel construction of the scales/- I like it so far!
