KeymasterFlight-ER-Doc, i know not to cut and suck since that will only cause more trauma to the flesh around the poison bite as well as allow the venom to do more harm which might damage the body on the surrounding are aof the bite. Ill get rid of the smelling salts and take your word over soap and water. The tubing, I thought, would help for making a tourniquet. I will also try the Atwood-Carey and AMK sites, they sound pretty useful. Thanks for all the feedback guys, this is great!!

KeymasterSurgical tubing is not a good idea for a tourniquet. A tourniquet needs to be wide (and preferably flat). Look at the CAT-4 or other similar military design.

KeymasterHow about some training? All that stuff is useless unless you know what to do with it. And by the looks of the list you have limited to no training. Not trying to be insulting but be clear that all the gear in the world will not save someone’s life unless you have knowledge to get the job done. Good luck on your trip and have fun.

KeymasterIn the Summer with hikers of various skill/experience be on the lookout for the effects of heat & exertion. Make sure you have a back up supply of water. If you’re not going by car w/ coolers for ice consider a chem ice pack to throw on someones neck (or ankle for a sprain, speaking of which add an ace wrap is also a good piece of kit to have-for bandaging as well). If you add “living well” to your requirements then add some gold bond type powder & consider for a week trip some day/nyquil gel caps.
