KeymasterThere are a couple that I would like to add to my collection. Both would be target guns for the range rather than carry guns though.
I’d like to pick up a Smith & Wesson K-frame revolver with a 6″ barrel and target sights.
I’d also like to pick up a 1911, probably a Kimber.-SF

The stock triggers are absolute garbage. A trigger job should help some, but replacing all of the parts is kind of necessary, IMHO. The PC trigger is where they get acceptable. Also, apparently my next is going to be a used G19gen3 with nice sights and some grip work. I’ll probably put in a nice trigger and have it milled for an RMR with suppressor sights and see which I like better between that and my M&P PC Ported Core set up basically the same way.
I agree. I had an M&P for less than a week because of the trigger. They should put the trigger in the Shield in the full size models too.

KeymasterThe Shield has the same trigger as the one in the 45. It is only the 9 and 40 that have the crappy triggers

moostapah… you commented on starting 3 gun… a suggestion…. figure out how you are going to reload the shotgun first… if your local club does not go prone with the shotgun, it is very difficult to beat someone using the load2/load4 technique (when you shoot Super Senior, loading out of trays is ok:) )… for tac optics division, most use their pistol competition rig, and then modularize the shot shell and rifle mag holders with something like the BladeTech teklok system….if you don’t regularly shoot USPSA pistol competition, start there first… Remington Outdoor Company just had an outstanding deal for USPSA members, offering select firearms at Remington employee pricing…and it is addictive… good luck.. Yeah…I’m falling into the trap of neglecting the shotgun already, just because I know the least about them.My plan was to use the speed loading tubes that jam in 8 at a time. The pistol I’d use already bumps me to open, so I might as well take advantage of all the cool stuff.

I haven’t seriously looked at a shield, but the internet seems to agree with you.I think the apex tactical trigger is required, much like most people think stock glock sights are placeholders.

KeymasterThe difference there for me is that I always replace the sights on my carry guns with night sights. I always leave the trigger stock for legal concerns.

KeymasterI have all the guns I need for any conceivable purpose, so these days I focus on “fun” guns. I’d *like* my next gun to be something like this masterpiece by the incomparable Hamilton Bowen:

I’m not convinced that the legal concerns are justified. But, I also know at least one person used to being an expert witness who would support my argument. Regardless of legal concerns, if it ever matters, I’d still rather not throw shots because the trigger is worlds different from the pistols I shoot every week in competition. Then again, I’m also not competing with a 1.5 lb triggered 2011.

KeymasterThere are some awesome guns listed here.
I also forgot to list an HK USP 45 just because I’ve always wanted one.

KeymasterI pretty much have all the handguns I want, but I would like either a Springfield EMP 9mm or a Dan Wesson Ecco.

I’ve shot all calibers except the 40, all recent manufactures and all the triggers felt comparable to me. The 45 was actually a bit heavy but I suspect maybe due to it’s low round count.I wouldn’t say they have the best trigger in the world but it’s a sub 500 dollar gun, not a custom 1911.
I never had a problem with the trigger. Accuracy is always acceptable.
It’s like driving a truck your whole life and switching to a Honda Civic, they both get you from point A to B. You get accustomed to something and then moving outside of that comfort zone is a tough transition.

My understanding is that they are now putting the updated triggers in all M&P’s. I bought a Shield 9 and I absolutely love it. Probably won’t ever buy a glock again.November 29, 2025 at 8:58 am #115907admin
KeymasterI’d like to have a full size Kimber 1911, maybe either the Eclipse Custom II or the Tactical Entry II.

They’ve been saying that for a while. I’ve yet to see an updated one around my area. But if they get around to it I could see them taking much more business from Glock.November 29, 2025 at 8:58 am #115909admin
KeymasterOr just making them cost the price of a glock minus the cost of an apex trigger.

KeymasterWell, I’m officially picking up my new-to-me S&W M637-2 tomorrow.
Looking forward to shooting snubby’s again.
